Dalbeattie is a small town on the east side of the Stewartry region. It has a busy High Street with many independent shops ranging from butchers and bakers to a reptile shop! It is a friendly place where people are always ready to lend a hand.
If Castle Douglas is the food town and Kirkcudbright is the artists' town, then Dalbeattie has to be the outdoor activities town. The town is surrounded by excellent facilities with world class mountain bike trails, walking, sailing and horse riding all near the town.
If something more sedate is your preference then take a drive down to the coast where there are pretty villages, sandy beaches and stunning coastal scenery. Further inland there is beautiful Galloway countryside with ruined castles and serene lochs.
Whether you are moving into the area or coming here as part of your medical or nursing training, we believe this is one of the best areas of Scotland to live in.
